I just traded my Ford 2000 on a new NH TC33D with HST, 7308 loader and 72" rear mount mower ($19,050 for all of the equipment). From time to time I have a hard time shifting into a different range (I push the lever forward, but it acts like it stuck). I also have the same problem shifting from 2wd to FWD. This is the first HST transmission I have had and don't know if this is normal. The dealer said it is when they are new. Does anybody with a TC25D, TC29D or TC33D know if this problem works itself out over time.

I've heard that it is common to push the hydro pedal momentarily (while in neutral) if shifting ranges is difficult. Works for me.

I agree. My new (18hrs) JD 4100 exhibits the same symptoms. Slightly depressing the hydro pedal allows the range selector to easily engage the needed position. On the Deere you also can use your left foot on the brake pedal to eliminate any chance of unwanted movement of the tractor. Also my 4WD lever was difficult to shift initially and even popped out of position a couple of times. After a few hrs. of running that engages much easier too. ....

My Kubota L3710 HST is the same, it does seem to be getting easier with time (30 hrs). I found that if I lift the front wheels off the ground with the loader I can easily shift in/out of 4wd. To change ranges on the transmission I VERY LIGHTLY push the HST pedal while also pushing the shift lever.

Enjoy your new tractor, I'm sure you'll be impressed with all it can do. Even my wife now thinks we made a wise purchase. ....

That little problem, if it is a problem, may get better with age, but I think it will always be there to some extent. If those gears are not lined up just right, they don't fit together and you need to either press very lightly, as stated, on the hydro pedal to turn them, or release the clutch, if you were using it to start with, step on the hydro pedal, release it, and depress the clutch again to shift the range selector lever. Some folks use the clutch, like the manual says, and some don't. You don't really have to use the clutch as long as you are stopped and are not depressing the hydro pedal. ....
